Caring for your new Cosmetic Tattoo

Day 1-3: Leave your new brows alone!
Day 4-6: If your brows feel dry, tight and/or itchy, apply a rice grain amount of Aquaphor onto each brows with a Q-Tip before bed.
Day 7-13: Leave your brows alone!
Day 14: Begin to gently wash your brows 2 times a day. Do not remove any remaining scabs or flakes.

The following must be avoided:

• Avoid getting the brows wet for 14 days.
• Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for 30 days.
• Wear a hat if you must be in the sun. Apply sunblock after 14 days.
• Avoid putting makeup on the brows for the first 14 days.
• Avoid facials, chemical peels, injectables, or microdermabrasion for 14 days.
• Avoid alcohol in excess for the first 48 hours.
• Avoid dust or airborne debris.
  Avoid hot, steamy showers, steam room, jacuzzi or pools for 14 days. Less time exposed to water is best. Momentary water contact is okay – pat dry immediately with a paper towel.
• DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness. Let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment.
• DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for 14 days. Cosmetics of any kind may interfere with the healing of your tattoo.
• DO NOT use Vaseline, Neosporin or other petroleum based products while healing.
• DO NOT bleach, tint or dye the tattooed area for one month following the procedure.
• DO NOT apply any anti-acne products (e.g. Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid, etc.) or lightening creams (skin bleaching creams) such as hydroquinone to the treated area while healing.
• NO anti-aging products or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs), Retin-A, Lactic or Glycolic Acids on the brows as it will fade the color faster.
• DO NOT thread, wax, or use hair removal products on the treated area while healing.
• NO intensive exercising and/or sweating for 7 days.
• Please prevent bacteria exposure from places like the gym. If you must go, please be mindful of touching your tattoo after touching equipment and sweating. Use hand sanitizer as needed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker, bolder in color, warm/red in color, and more sharply defined. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort. Please do not panic if your brows look red or warm toned for the first few days! Your brow color will neutralize after a few days.
• The day after the procedure, your brows will be very dark. This is normal as your scabs are forming – no need to panic, I promise!
• During the initial healing period, there should be mild scabbing or flaking of the skin. If there is some scabbing or flaking, DO NOT PICK. Allow the scab or dry skin to fall off naturally. You may use a clean disposable mascara wand to brush through your brows to remove whatever is lifted from the skin. If you feel pain as you brush through, that part of the scab is not ready to come off – please allow your skin to heal for a bit longer before brushing through again. Most clients report all scabs are gone by the second week. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It may appear as though the tattooed area has completely disappeared. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.
• The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color.
